Motivate Your Child with Potty Training Charts
One of the ways to track potty training progress and motivate your child is through the use of potty training charts. Not only is this an easy method of keeping track of when your child has potty success, it is a great way to encourage your child. There are charts featuring favorite themes and cartoon characters. You can craft your own chart if you are the sort, using poster board and stickers, however there are all kinds of charts you can print for free online or purchase. The charts that you print are not going to be as sturdy, unless you print them on heavy paper.
You may want to consider the I Can Do It Training Chart. This chart is colorful, and quite durable. It comes with plastic stars and a potty training book. There are training tips included and an achievement certificate for when your child is successfully potty trained. The best thing about this chart is that it uses dry erase markers and magnetic stars which means you can use it again for a younger sibling when the time is right.
There are also gender based potty charts you may want to consider. My Potty Reward Stickers for Girls: 126 Girl Potty Training Stickers and Chart to Motivate Toilet Training by Tracy Foote is a chart that is geared towards the more feminine color preferences of girls and comes with a chart and 126 colorful stickers. For boys there is a comparable product by the same author called My Potty Reward Stickers for Boys: 126 Boy Potty Training Stickers and Chart to Motivate Toilet Training. Of course this package is designed for the interests of most boys.
Whether you buy a chart or download one, potty training charts will only work if your child is ready to potty train. Unfortunately, you do not choose when your child potty trains; they do. The average guidelines is between 18 and 36 months of age, but some kids will train earlier or later than this. Boys are notorious for being late trainers, so don't panic if your child is past the guideline. If you have any concerns regarding this issue, make an appointment with your child's pediatrician. He or she can help you by providing medical insights and even personal insights as many pediatricians have kids themselves who they have had to potty train.
